Widening Achievement

We have a wide programme of events which run for our pupils. We continue to work hard to offer a more varied programme of events. These maximise participation and ensure everyone has access to great opportunities

These events take place both within and outwith the school day.

We are proud to provide FREE swimming lessons for ALL pupils from P1-7. These sessions develop swimming skills and build water confidence  vital life skills. We have worked closely with Midlothian Council and our partner, Stepping Stones to deliver quality, progressive swimming sessions for each child.

Miss Whyte coordinates a wide range of events with Active Schools to ensure St David’s can be represented at Midlothian events. There has been a significant increase in the number of pupils accessing festivals and sports in 2017/2018 including: 100% of P5 achieving Level 1 Bikeability (including previous non riders), 52% of P4 attended one or more sporting events, 59% of P5 attended one or more sporting events, 76% of P6 attended one or more sporting events and 43% of P7 attended one or more sporting events. We continue to build on this year on year with support and expertise of our parent volunteers.

Mr Ross works tirelessly to run Chess Club in school at lunchtime. The children gain a lot from these sessions and are keen to show off their skills!

We work very closely with our partners from Active Schools who deliver quality clubs at the end of the school day. They run a huge number to programmes and events at different centres both during term time and in the holidays. To find out more about this brilliant service, take a look at their website.
